Johanna Primary School is a 1960s single storey building located in the heart of Waterloo. A new computer suite and library, designed by the architects responsible for the Millennium Wheel, has now been completed.
The children come mainly from houses in neighbouring streets, local estates and co-operative housing in the South Bank. There is a broad and exciting cultural mix.
We offer a stimulating and supportive environment in which children achieve their best both academically and in terms of their personal development, with the support of peers, families and staff. We provide a child centered approach to education and a balanced, creative curriculum to meet National Curriculum requirements.
Children are supported in taking responsibility for their own actions through class Circle Times, an active behaviour policy and the School Council. Our Inclusion policy is integrated into all areas of school life.
We continue to develop our role in the community through involvement with the Young Vic Theatre, Waterloo Millennium Green, South Bank Employers' Group, Coin Street Community Builders and other organisations.
We had a successful OFSTEd inspection in July 2007 and continue to maintain and develop all aspects of school life.
A major part of our success is a committed, hard-working and mutually supportive staff, an involved and supportive parental community and dedicated and effective Governing body.
