The Ben Hollioake Learning Centre opened fully to pupils in October 2006. It is part of the nationwide Playing for Success scheme (PfS) and one of over 160 PfS Centres located in or near sports clubs around the country. Ben Hollioake was a hugely talented Surrey and England cricketer who died tragically in a car accident in Australia in 2002. Surrey County Cricket Club decided to name their state-of-the-art Learning Centre in the new OCS stand at the Brit Oval after him. The Centre has developed through a working partnership between Lambeth Council, Surrey County Cricket Club and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and was established with the aim of offering study support to primary and secondary school pupils between the ages of 10-13 in a relaxed after-school environment. The Centre’s work is also supported by the generous sponsorship of Connaught plc.
