Nearest is a non-denominational voluntary aided grammar school for girls aged 11-18, situated in the peaceful surroundings of the Hampstead Garden Suburb.
Since its foundation in 1911, The Henrietta Barnett School has achieved an exemplary local and national reputation for academic excellence. Dame Henrietta Barnett strongly believed in the power of education to shape people's lives and founded the School to provide educational opportunities of the highest quality for its pupils.
She built the School on the principle that education should be open to girls from different backgrounds who should study and learn together and from each other. This principle is alive and well at The Henrietta Barnett School. We regard our diversity as one of our major strengths and one of our many legacies from the founder. We aim to provide a broad education for all pupils and to ensure that it is ambitious, varied and stimulating. We are committed to developing the whole person, to encouraging girls to explore their interests in a wide variety of ways and to promoting curiosity of mind, independence of spirit and a love of learning.
In the accompanying web pages, you will be able to discover more about the broad educational experience at the school, but none of this should replace an experience of the school itself. We would be delighted to see you on one of our Open Days, to show you around the school and to answer any questions you may have. Please see our Admissions section for more information.
