Hampstead School is a community school located in the Borough of Camden. The school takes in children of ages 11-18.
The school says
Hampstead School is an inclusive, international comprehensive school taking the full range of ability, which values and has high expectations of all its students. The emphasis is on motivation in order that students can actively develop their individual skills, with examination success, application of knowledge, practical ability, creativity and social competence all being regarded as equally desirable.
We aim to build on the achievements of good primary schools and to support this we have senior teachers working closely with each feeder primary school. This is particularly important to ensure entry to our broad balanced and rich curriculum does not lead students to underachieve.
The Ofsted report in 2008
"Hampstead School is providing a satisfactory and improving standard of education. Many aspects of the school's work are good, including the school's successful sixth form; some aspects are outstanding.
Some aspects of the school's performance dipped after the last inspection. In particular, attendance and GCSE results fell sharply in 2006. However, rigorous action by the school's senior leaders quickly corrected this dip. Students are now making satisfactory and improving progress as they move from year 7 to year 11. Students' attendance has also improved considerably and is now close to the national average."
