Falmer High School is a community, comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11-16. It is a Mixed school of Non Denominational religion.

Falmer School was awarded the Artsmark Silver in 2001 and Healthy School Status in March 2008.

There is a proposal from Brighton and Hove City Council to close Falmer High School on 31 August 2010 so that it can be replaced by the Falmer Academy from 1 September 2010 on the same school site.

Ofsted report in 2006 says

'Falmer High is an improving school that provides a satisfactory standard of education and care for its students. It has several strengths and relatively few weaknesses. It has good capacity to improve further. The school has a friendly and welcoming ethos.

Students are proud of their school and enjoy their education. They care for each other and take a very active part in the running of the school, including being student governors, acting as 'bully busters' and being involved in the school council. Staff and students relate to each other well. Students and the wider community gain considerable benefit from additional services provided at the school. These include the support for health and welfare provided by the multi-agency advice centre 'MAC's Place' and through the Bridge Community Learning Centre.'
