Haggerston School is a thriving and successful community school. Our exceptional and committed staff work closely with students, parents and governors to provide a distinct, exciting and secure learning environment. We value and nurture our students, respecting their backgrounds and supporting their individual needs. We continually strive for excellence, and all young people at Haggerston School are able to develop two very special gifts — the ability to learn and the confidence to grasp the world that lies ahead.
The school is set in beautiful grounds and is a listed building, designed by the visionary architect Erno Goldfinger. As part of the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ scheme, extensive refurbishment is planned for the coming years. We are less than one mile from the city, which makes it easy for us to promote links with the business community to help students take advantage of and prepare them for the very best that the world of learning, work and society has to offer.
I feel proud to be the Headteacher of Haggerston School, a place that has a long-standing reputation of innovation, a track record of success and attracts students from Hackney and neighbouring boroughs. As a Technology College, the school is continually developing its expertise in the complementary subjects of Technology, Maths, Science and Information and Communication Technology. We have subsequently acquired the status of a ‘Teacher Training School’ as well as a second specialism for Modern Foreign Languages. We have a strong partnership with local schools and share our expertise with other. This also supports our drive to provide a first class educational experience for everyone in the community.
Maggie Kalnins, Headteacher
