Is a new City Academy in Hackney, the first in the borough. Academies are government funded, independent secondary schools in urban areas. They are run in partnership with business and the voluntary sector. Mossbourne is supported by sponsorship from the Hackney businessman, Sir Clive Bourne. In partnership with The Learning Trust and the Department for Education and Skills, Sir Clive contributed £2 million towards capital costs. He is actively involved in the development of the Academy.
