"Hurlingham and Chelsea is a good and rapidly improving school with outstanding features. The staff are passionate about school improvement and are successfully focussed on placing the quality of teaching and learning at its heart. As a result, standards have improved rapidly from a very low base three years ago. In 2007, 41% of students achieved 5+ A* to C grades, including English and mathematics. The school was recently named as the most improved secondary school in London for sustained improvement in GCSE results between 2004 and 2007, and the second most improved school nationally. Students of all abilities are valued equally and make good progress. Particularly strong and consistent achievement is evident in Years 10 and 11, with the school in the top 2% nationally in 2007. Teaching and learning is good. The school has correctly identified the development of more outstanding teaching and learning as central to sustaining the current rate of improving standards."
