History teacher needed at outstanding academy in south London

This is a mixed, 11-18 academy with Technology College status.  It is committed to providing a caring, disciplined atmosphere in which to promote academic excellence, so that every pupil can prepare confidently for a fast changing world. This is reflected in its successful examination results and the provision of a wide range of activities both within and outside the school. Full use is made of the very latest technology with computing facilities a feature of teaching in all subjects. The school has also received national awards for sport, extra-curricular activities and high achievement.

Last year,  90% of pupils achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE, 80% with both English and Mathematics, and record numbers achieved the English Baccalaureate.  Results at A level were similarly impressive and the majority of A level students went on to pursue further study at good universities.

Ofsted gave this school an overall rating of “Outstanding” at its previous two inspections.  In particular, they commented that, “The school provides an inspirational learning environment”, “The excellent pastoral system has resulted in outstanding personal development” and “Students display respectful and exemplary behaviour”.

The headteacher is now looking to appoint an experienced teacher of English to join her exemplary staff, teaching all age groups including KS5.  To apply for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to provide opportunities in lessons for students to make decisions and take greater responsibility for their own learning
