Science teaching job at rapidly improving academy in SE London

Science teacher needed immediately at improving academy in SE London

This is a mixed 11-16  academy with specialist Arts status.  This school is unusual in that it does not have a business sponsor and is free from Local Authority control. It is part of a family of schools, nationally and internationally, that are co-operatives, sharing a set of values that they believe really matter.  The large majority of students come from a wide range of minority ethnic backgrounds. The majority of students speak English as an additional language, which is well above average.  The proportion of students for whom the school receives the pupil premium is over 80%, which is very high.

The school’s curriculum is geared to widen the knowledge and understanding of its students with pupils taking GCSEs from Year 9 onwards. They believe that students need to be able to take exam courses when they are ready for them, not just because they are in a particular year. The school hasexcellent facilities with an Apple Mac based Music Technology suite, a Languages Laboratory and home access to their work for all students and staff.  Its Farm Academy with bees, chickens and fresh fruit and vegetables, allows pupilsto have an experience unknown to many.  Its Arts provision is fantastic with a drama company that is second to none.

Exam results have gone up year on year, but despite this, Ofsted have deemed the school to “require improvement”.  With improving the school in mind, the headteacher wishes to appoint an experienced and well-regarded teacher of Science to bring about changes in the department and share experience with other staff members. To apply for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
